Roseburg: Giving Campaign

Project Description

Through Roseburg (RFP)’s Team Member Giving Campaign, the company provided employees an annual opportunity to pledge a portion of each paycheck or a one-time donation to charitable giving. RFP matched team member pledges with a 75% match per-dollar given. In a typical year, these pledges (combined with the company match) raised >$1M that went directly to the nonprofits. These contributions benefited 350+ charities to help fund continuance of their important work in our communities.

Continuing the legacy of philanthropy + volunteerism year after year reflected the company’s mission to make lives better from the ground up. In collaboration with nonprofit partners, this initiative centered around rallying employee participation and enthusiasm, with the goal of maintaining or improving our giving numbers each year. The campaign kicked off every year in Sept., lasting for one month through Oct., followed by a prize drawing in Nov. for eligible participants.

I held singular project management over this companywide initiative + the multiple events associated with it.
Leading up to, throughout, + beyond the month-long campaign, my work comprised of:

Work Involved
  • Graphic design + communications
    • Created new logo for the campaign, + singularly revamped branding assets + all relevant marketing collateral.
  • Copywriting + dedicated webpage development
    • Produced + dispersed company comms materials, including instructions, FAQs, slideshows, updates, reminders, tips, + guest articles.
    • Developed a new webpage on RFP’s company Sharepoint page, dedicated to hosting all relevant materials for ease of access.
  • Event planning, trainings, + logistics
  • Community relations + nonprofit partner collaboration
    • United Way + other charity organizations.
  • Budget, contract, + vendor management
Rebrand Approach

Coordinating + delivering this yearly campaign was a large part of my role at RFP. The initiative was deeply important to the company’s founders + to many team members. While many large companies have greatly reduced or discontinued company matches +/or dissolved the large events connected to corporate giving, RFP recognized the value + impact that the event + funds had on the community, + on employee morale. The impressive 75% match, well over industry average, allowed for even small employee donations to go farther. RFP has remained a stronghold in the community by continuing to promote these efforts for over 87 years.

With those distinguished qualities in mind, + with data gained from conducting research among team members after my first year, I resolved to develop a new visual identity to give the campaign a fresh look + to improve brand recognition.

In addition to the new brand, I prioritized providing training + resources to our “site champions,” employees chosen to help promote the campaign on a local level by being a local advocate. I also focused on creating + distributing “guest articles” that featured different stories of how charitable giving positively impacts communities + individuals, which was an additional way of honing in on that all – important element of human connection. I sourced + highlighted stories from various company leaders, employees, + community members, ensuring that all messaging had a personal element + effectively tied back to the company’s values.

This experience furthered my passion for philanthropy + compelling, community-focused storytelling, while strengthening my skills in driving meaningful audience engagement in a manner that aligns with overarching strategic company goals.
